CARVING A CAREER IN THE SKI INDUSTRY
Embracing the role of ambassador for Resorts of the Canadian Rockies, I bring a wealth of experience and a deep connection to the ski industry. With credentials as a Level 2 CASI snowboard instructor and Level 1 CSIA ski instructor, complemented by my role as a Canadian ski patroller, and former Manager of Marketing, Group Sales, and Events for RCR, my understanding of the slopes runs both broad and deep. My passion for snowboarding is unmistakable; ask anyone who's ridden with me, and the resounding affirmation of my love for the sport is immediate.
My journey into skiing began in grade 5 during a school learn-to-ski program, sparking a lifelong love affair with the mountains. Despite our family's financial constraints, every Christmas, my supportive and amazing mother would make sure that I received my season pass for our local ski resort, Marble Mountain. The introduction to snowboarding came during my first year of university in 1999, a time when snowboarders were the rebels on the slopes. The initial challenges and humbling experiences fuelled my determination to master the art of gliding down the mountain on a single board.
When I landed in Canmore, Alberta, I had one goal: plunge headfirst into the ski scene. Lucky for me, three resorts came knocking with job offers. RCR stood out, not just offering a gig but providing a smooth ride into management.
From 2017 to 2019, I rocked the title of Manager of Marketing, Group Sales & Events at Resorts of the Canadian Rockies. Let me tell you, it was a powder-packed journey in the ski industry trenches. I juggled more projects than I can count, got knee-deep in community engagement, and teamed up with a bunch of cool folks. My main gig? Steering the marketing ship at Nakiska Ski Resort. We didn't just hit marketing goals; we sent them flying off kickers. Group sales? Well, let's just say they did a victory dance with a substantial increase to the business's bottom line.

Beyond the professional achievements, my story reflects a genuine passion for the slopes, a proficiency in instruction, and the ability to bring a narrative to life. As an ambassador for Resorts of the Canadian Rockies, I embrace the ski bum spirit, drawing inspiration from resilience. For my little baby snowboarder Sylas, the journey with RCR began almost from birth. Sylas has been experiencing the exhilaration of snowboarding at an age when most are still mastering their first steps. From his initial conveyor belt rides to the first descents down the bunny hill, Sylas embodies the spirit of a new generation of mountain enthusiasts.
With a wealth of mountain experiences and a genuine love for alpine culture, I will continue to share my insights, from tips for parents eager to introduce their little ones to the joys of snowboarding and how to continue to ride as new parents. My journey will reflect the essence of nurturing a young adventurer amid the breathtaking landscapes of RCR.
